Psychiatry and psychology are overlapping professions. Practitioners in both — psychiatrists and psychologists — are mental health professionals. They would hold doctorate level qualifications. Psychiatrists and psychologists aren’t the only mental health professionals you can choose from. There are mental health counselors, social workers, nurses and nurse practitioners, and others who deal with issues of mental health.

In the course of our work together, if it appears that your needs are beyond the scope of short-term counselling, we will discuss what form of treatment and help might be better suited to your needs. I will never attempt to treat major mental health issues, but can help you find the right qualified help should you require it.
